China Southern Air Holding Company was established on October 11, 2002. It is headquartered in Guangzhou (also known as Canton), China.


As one of the three major air transportation groups managed by China's central government, China Southern specializes in air transportation and cargo logistics, and has also engaged in MRO, import & export trading, financing, media & advertising, real estate, etc..


Publicly listed on Shanghai, Hong Kong and New York Stock Exchanges, China Southern (stock code: 600029) has 4 bases, 15 branches, 24 domestic offices and 65 overseas offices. It has more than 100,000 employees and manages assets of nearly USD3.1 billion dollars.

The carrier boasts the most comprehensive support capabilities in China, including independent pilot training. It has built a flying college together with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as Asia's largest flight training center, Zhuhai Flight Training Center, in partnership with CAE, the world-renowned flight simulator manufacturer.


It is also strong in MRO including its joint-ventures, Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO) and MTU Aero Engines.

In 2004, the "5-Star Diamond Award" by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.


In 2012 and 2013, the "Most Appreciated Chinese Companies" by Fortune China, "30 Best Chinese Employers of the Year" and "Top 100 Contributors to Society in Social Responsibility".


In 2014, the "Stars of China Award-the Best Airlines" from US-based Global Finance, and the "Most Appreciated Chinese Company in Transportation and Logistics Industry" from Fortune China.


In 2015, "Excellent A330 Operator" from Airbus, "Best Airlines of China" from TTG, the "Golden Pegasus Award", and "The Most Valued Chinese Brands in Logistics Industry".

China Southern has taken initiative in launching the " Fly Green" services in China and started low-carbon flights. As of 31 March 2021, over 2 million meals had been saved thanks to the meals-on-demand of its Fly Green services, equivalent to 945 tons of food.
