China Southern Airlines Named “Green Airline of the Year” Once Again

January 30, 2023 - China Southern Airlines has once again been honored as the“Green Airline of the Year”in the“List of Air Travel 2022”unveiled by China Civil Aviation.

In 2022, China Southern followed Xi Jinping Thoughts on Ecological Civilization by fully incorporating“green”and low-carbon development concepts into its flight operations.

The Company has reduced fuel consumption per ton kilometer by 3% year-on-year by implementing improved“green”and low-carbon measures for in-flight fuel-savings, ground consumption and passenger emission reductions.

China Southern is committed to the application of sustainable aviation fuel with newly delivered aircraft using domestically produced biofuel for flight.

It has relied on technological innovations to develop an electronic signature system for aircraft maintenance, which can save more than 10 million sheets of paper every year.

The Company has made great efforts to reduce plastic pollution by halting the supply of disposable non-degradable plastic straws, stirring sticks, tableware/cups and packaging bags at airport terminals and lounges and on all domestic passenger flights which has significantly reduced the consumption of disposable plastic products.

China Southern advocates “On-Demand Dining”services that saved more than 2.4 million in-flight meals and reduced food waste by over 3,500 tons in 2022.

In 2022, more than 100 air travel brands competed for awards for aviation, hotel and air travel celebrities in the“List of Air Travel 2021”event.

China Southern was again named ”Green Airline of the Year”after a process of online voting and review by expert panels.
