China Southern Signs 24 Import Orders, Adding to the Success of CIIE

By郭烨 Updated:2023-11-09 11:45:51

November 9, 2023 -On November 6, China Southern signed 24 import orders with 20 large international aviation manufacturers and suppliers, including CFM International and International Aero Engines, at the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) as a Core Supporting Enterprise and a Designated Air Carrier. It is expected that the transaction amount will hit a record high for recent years.

To fully meet the travel needs of domestic and international exhibitors and passengers, China Southern has intensified the operation of its routes from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Urumqi, and other destinations during CIIE. The frequency of flights has been increased with some flights operated by wide-body aircraft, providing passengers with more convenient and comfortable travel options. In addition, China Southern has set up check-in counters dedicated to CIIE at both Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport, ensuring smooth travel for participants of the expo.

To ensure the successful delivery of CIIE-related goods, China Southern Air Logistics has established a dedicated support team and opened up a green channel. It has deployed eight Boeing 77F freighters in Shanghai for round-the-clock operations and provided support for over 80 inbound and outbound flights per week. As the influence of CIIE continues to expand, Shanghai Pudong International Airport has ushered in a peak in inbound cargo from the US and European countries. Since October, the cumulative volume of inbound cargo from the US and European countries has exceeded 7,000 tons, with approximately 30% being medical equipment, semiconductors, electrical appliances, and machinery related to CIIE. China Southern has taken various measures to ensure the efficient and timely arrival of exhibition cargo, facilitating the fast delivery of CIIE-related cargo.

In collaboration with the China International Import Expo Bureau and National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), China Southern has also launched the "Jinbo" aircraft in CIIE-themed livery, which is an Airbus A330-300. The livery highlights the characteristics of CIIE and features the mascot panda, Jinbao, which holds a four-leaf clover as a symbol of happiness and good luck, conveying Chinas best wishes to people around the world.
