January 2, 2024 - The 2024 Spring Festival travel rush will last for 40 days, from January 26 to March 5. During this significant period, China Southern Group plans to operate more than 113,000 flights, with each round trip counting as two flights.

Domestically, China Southern Group intends to execute approximately 108,000 flights throughout the travel rush. In addition to the routes which are traditionally popular among passengers traveling for family gatherings, such as those connecting Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Central China, Southwest China, and East China, China Southern will launch new routes from Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Wuhan to Changbaishan, and from Ningbo to Harbin, to meet the growing demand for ice-and-snow tourism. 800 or so flights will be increased for existing "ice-and-snow" routes. Furthermore, China Southern will also carry out extra flights from Guangzhou to Wuhan and Changde, as well as from Shenzhen to Harbin, Zhengzhou, Nanchong, and deploy more wide-body aircraft in hot markets like Hainan, Southwest China, and Northeast China. On average, nearly 200 wide-body flights will be operated daily during peak period on these routes.

For international and regional routes, this years popular travel destinations primarily include Japan, Republic of Korea, and Southeast Asia. China Southern will launch or resume several international routes connecting Beijing Daxing with Almaty and Bishkek, Shenyang with Bangkok, Wuhan with Ho Chi Minh City, and Changsha with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. As Southeast Asia is estimated to be a popular destination during the Spring Festival travel rush, additional flights will be operated from Guangzhou to Chiang Mai, Sabah, Nha Trang, Bangkok, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta, offering passengers more options for international travel.

China Southern will hold marketing activities such as providing coupon packages and "blind-box" discounts for families and students on channels including WeChat, Xiaohongshu, and live streaming platforms to meet their travel needs.

Moreover, based on its extensive global route network covering Chinas major cities, China Southern will actively participate in local festival activities featuring traditional and folk culture. To respond to the "Visit Guangdong for Spring Festival" cultural and tourism campaigns across the province, China Southern has initiated a themed marketing campaign on its official APP and WeChat mini program. Travelers who register as members of China Southern can participate in lucky draws for free tickets and coupons, and purchase air tickets, tourist attraction ticket packages and other travel products at preferential prices.
